The Nebraska Rural Electric Association Credit Union, also known as NREA Credit Union, was chartered in 1973. We are located in Lincoln, Nebraska, in the offices of the statewide Nebraska Rural Electric Association, but we have credit union representatives to assist our staff, located in most of the Association’s 35 member Rural Public Power District and Electric Cooperative offices throughout Nebraska and three of the neighboring states.

Membership:
Membership is open to all employees and directors of public power districts and electric cooperatives that are members of NREA, as well as to all members of the immediate families of those employees and directors.  The immmediate family to include spouses, parents, children, brothers and sisters, step-parents, step-children, mothers and fathers-in-laws, grandparents, and grand-children.

Management:
The operation of the NREA Credit Union is under the direct control of a five-member board of directors elected by the membership at the Credit Union’s annual meeting. All members are encouraged to participate in the annual meeting. (The credit union’s by-laws are available upon request to any member.)

KBR RPPD's General Manager Rich Walters serves as president of the board of directors. John Hoke, General Manager of Niobrara Valley EMC, serves as Vice President; Chuck Fuhrer, General Manager of Loup Valleys RPPD, serves as secretary, while Elkhorn RPPD's Assistant Manager, Wayne Mc Cormick is the board's treasurer, and Stanton County PPD's General Manager, William Johnson is the board's membership chairman. NREA General Manager, Jay Holmquist also serves as the manager of the credit union, while Sarah Batenhorst serves as the assistant manager.
